Dinner..and new tools for the kitchen

Back from work and as always..I am hungry..I know, the theory says ' nothing after 6 pm ' but how can I do that when I am just arriving home around 7pm ? and that is if the bus comes on time...

Tonight I had pasta with a sauce made of sour cream and pepperoni..Just blend a pepperoni with 200 ml of light sour cream for 2 minutes and you get a really tasty sauce for your pasta..and you can even dip some potato chips in it  :)

I did the final unpacking from my trip to Budapest and took out the new tools for my kitchen..all made of wood :)

Bed time...tired after a day of work..one of the many that past and many to come.. I know it's the perfect time for a hot cup of tea...but I feel more for this cup of cappuccino :) In the virtual space we are allowed to everything we want..so..just enjoy :)

Budapest - Thermal waters

This post is not about food..more ' Carpe diem ' rather than ' Carpe gustus '...
We discovered Budapest and it's thermal waters. Local people seem to have integrated this in their lifestyle. They just go either with their couple, friends or parents to enjoy the thermal water and its benefits.

It was a nice, new experience...to go from 3 minutes in sauna to a pool with water at 25 degrees C . Or to stay 10 minutes in a water with 35 degrees C and then switch to 20 degrees C . It sounds like fun but to be honest was quite difficult to get used to...and then I saw people around 60-70 years that were just doing the switch without  whining as much as me ...Obviously I need practice :)

Overall, I enjoyed a lot and I strongly recommend it to all you who plan on visiting Budapest :)

Budapest - Cafe New York

One of the ' must see ' places in Budapest . Like many of the ' must see' places all over the world, a bit overestimated, a bit overpriced , a bit too full but in general nice. Its beauty lies in the building itself, it's architecture and interior design .

I had a big glass of grapefruit lemonade, a mix of grapefruit, passion fruit, lemon, ice, suger with some mint leaves and as a main dish ravioli with liver and apple compote seasoning. Interesting combination but not something I would ever ask again . You know..there are just some things you are happy you tried but you would not do it again..well..I guess this goes there :)

Budapest - Langos

Langos - it's the fried dough in the pictures below, that is used as a base for the dish . On top of the langos , you can put whatever your appetite or your imagination dictates you . In the first picture is the traditional version , with a spicy salami, cream, pepperoni, onion, feta cheese and tomatoes and in the second one a simpler version with cream, cheese and ham .

The dish is quite heavy and oily so I actually was too full to have dessert after but I can tell you that you can have the same langos with sweet toppings like jam, chocolate, confiture, fruits and cream . A full menu with the main dish and dessert starting from a common base : the Hungarian langos.
Tasty experience..but not at all 'diet friendly'  :)

Budapest - Hungarian Goulash

First day in Budapest ! We arrived quite early to a really nice hotel :) Magnum Residence http://www.regnumresidence.hu/  few of the hotels I have been to, where the rooms are as big as you have the feeling when you see the pictures. Staff really friendly and helpful .
We went out for a short walk as the temperature was below 0 C and for lunch we had to try the traditional goulash - a beef soup with some vegetables and many spices .

I tried as well something called Bean soup Jokay style - a bean soup with some bacon, salami and some home made noodles . Was nice to try but not exactly on my taste .

To be continued.....
